Introduction The Ministry of Education has the role of ensuring that early childhood settings are safe for children, teachers and non-teaching staff. The Act on Occupational, health and safety, 2007 notes that heads of early childhood settings have the responsibility of ensuring that children, teachers and workers stay in a safe environment while in early childhood settings (Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2007). In this regard, this report is a guide on how early childhood settings can create a conducive learning and working environment for children and workers respectively. The Occupational Safety and Health Act states that all early childhood settings must put in place minimum safety guidelines to reduce and prevent injuries among children and employees (Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2007). The Ministry of Education and the State Department of Education must ensure that all early childhood settings have enough, financial, physical and human resources to create a safe environment. Furthermore, teachers must make sure that children are aware of all the risks and how to combat these risks (OH&S, Health and Safety In Early Childhood, Health and Safety in Early Childhood Services, 2006). This is one of the important recommendations as fire drills are not performed regularly All rooms should have an emergency exit that is well labeled (Appendix, a). this can not be fixed without renovations however there are exits that are labelled but may need firther labelling and ensuring it is clear of debris Uneven floors should be repaired. This can be easily done by comeplting the maintaince form to get it fixed up Labelling of bins. This can be easily done by creating labels to place on bins to ensure that the right rubbish is placed in the correct bins Conclusion This report offers a useful analysis of the early childhood setting in regards to the health and safety for employees. Concisely by following the recommendations of this report the early childhood setting will be safer for employees and children. Additionally it is important to note that the recommendations and strategies in this report comply with Australian Occupational and Safety Laws. Thus, the early childhood setting will not only be safe for workers but it shall have complied with the regulations and laws. This will reduce and prevent injuries among employees in the early childhood
