Personality Assessment – The big bang theory

For the assignment I used the episode “The Love Spell Potential” from the Big Bang Theory Season 6 episode 23.
I chose to focus on the psychologically developed character Raj. I used the Social-Cognitive Theory. This theory is based on learning from observation, and being able to learn by other’s actions. I think this is relevant to Raj’s observations and psychological state.
Raj has an extreme behavior issue in such a way that he is extremely nervous and anxious when it comes to female interaction. Raj has a problem with thinking, projecting feelings, explaining self-mood, and self-confidence when it he comes into contact with women. Raj in this episode is an excellent way to understand the social cognitive theory, and I will explain in the following paragraphs.…show more content… Raj meets Lucy, a female who suffers from extreme social anxiety, and above all things, social awkwardness. Raj feels a connection with Lucy, but his own psychological state interferes with normal interaction. Raj and Lucy eventually talk about their social anxieties, and decide to try to work out of their comfort zones.
Raj decides to try to work on his fears of women by trying to flirt and make an appearance to Lucy that he is a confident, experienced romantic. Raj also finds it much easier to text as opposed to live verbal interaction. Raj will message her with replies such as “busy, hanging with the bros” and other jargon to create a self-confident man. Raj has an extremely tough time with talking verbally and keeping up a conversation, so he comes up with comical rules such as “if nobody talks on the phone for 3 minutes you can hang
