Introduction The Mojave Desert has an extreme climate that consists of harsh colds and blistering heat that animals have adapted to. The highest temperature it can get up to was about 130 degrees fahrenheit and can drop to below freezing level. To survive the heat animals hide underground, under rocks, and biotic like cacti. Cacti are used for water because they store a lot of water. The desert was made by lots of amazing things. Review of Literature Deserts are on every continent but, the one in Southern California is called the Mojave Desert. Desert animals have to adapt to the desert heat. Most plants in the desert have roots that extend through the ground to reach water. For shelter animals use underground homes or use biotic factors like, cacti. Animals and plants depend on each other to survive. Ecosystem Interaction Between Biotic and Abiotic Factors There are many biotic factors in the desert. Owls are nocturnal and a biotic factor. Snakes need a cool place to live and are biotic. lizards also need a cool place to live and are biotic. The golden eagle can fly over the heat and rise to higher places. There are abiotic factors in the desert too. The sun is an abiotic factor that provides warmth to animals and plants. Rocks can provide shelter to animals. Water is used to hydrate living things. The sand can provide shelter to animals that burrow underground. Owls and water interact because owls need water for hydration. Lizards need the rocks to provide shelter. Snakes can use the sand to cool them down from the heat. To get heat the golden eagle uses the sun for warmth. In the desert the food chain consists of the different animals and plants in the ecosystem. At the bottom of the chain is the plants. Above the plants are herbivores like, insects.
