There are those who ponder about the “American Dream” and those who are oblivious to what the “American Dream” is. The “American Dream” is the opportunity for U.S. citizens, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or age, to achieve success through initiative, hard work, and determination. Although I have not heard about the “American Dream” until recently, I have thought about it and developed one. Everyone should have knowledge about the “American Dream”, if it’s still possible, and have one of their own, just like myself. First, think to yourself, “What is the American Dream?” The “American Dream” is the ideal that U.S. citizens have the opportunity to achieve success, to gain knowledge, and to obtain money through dedication and determination. If you want something in life, you have to work for it because it will not be handed to you. You have to work towards your goal and not give up. There is a saying, “If there are no ups and downs in our life, that means we are dead.” You have to struggle in order to get what you want because once you achieve your goal, you will think it was worth the journey. It could take awhile like myself. I thought I knew what I wanted in life, but after much thought, I did not. I knew one thing for certain. I want to be successful in my future occupation and be able to provide for my family instead of relying on someone. I can achieve this goal by studying diligently and graduate college from my preferred major. This small dream I have now could change while I mature and become wiser, but that does not mean that my dream is pointless, it just means that it has room to expand and to blossom into the ultimate “American Dream.” This dream now is simply my “American Dream” as a work in progress.
