Antigone was right to disobey Creon’s unjust law to not bury Polyneices. She had strong beliefs behind her actions and she stayed true to them. Antigone believed that God’s law was above men’s law, she believed that everyone deserves honor dead or alive and she believed that dying doing the right thing is better than living know that you could have done something. These beliefs are what caused Antigone to break the law. Burying Polyneices meant everything to Antigone not only because he was her brother but also because she believes that Creon’s law was unjust. Antigone believed that no man has the right to make such a law. “That final Justice that rules the world below makes no such laws” (p208). Creon’s law was harsh. Polyneices did not get a funeral that was honorable and that was a reason why Antigone broke the law. She believed that everyone deserved honor, dead or alive. Creon’s law took that honor away from Polyneices and Antigone wanted to honor Polyneices by giving him a proper burial. “Nevertheless, there are honors due to all the dead.” Creon tell Antigone that Polyneisecs was a traitor and he did not deserve an honorable burial. Antigone disagree and says that all the dead deserves honor no matter what happened during their life. Creon had no right to say who deserved honor or not, he was not god. Everyone deserves honor, dead or alive, this truth that was rooted in Antigone drove her to disobey Creon. “It will not be the worst of deaths –death without honor.” Antigone dying honoring was a better death than her brother dying without honor.
