The story of “The Necklace”, written by Guy de Maupassant, is a story about how wanting material things can ruin a person’s life forever. A woman really wanted to be wealthy and look beautiful, but eventually she paid the price. The main visions of the story in my opinion are the danger of greed and pride. In the story, Mathilde wants to be apart of the rich life so bad, but when her husband gives her an invitation she does not want to go because she has nothing to wear. She finds a dress, but has no jewelry. She asks a friend to borrow a necklace that looks beautiful, but has no value. When the night is over, she loses the necklace and she was very nervous.
