17 year old Elphinstone Secondary student Caitlin Jarvis attributes her success to the competitive nature that she has developed through figure skating. Jarvis has lived in Gibsons, British Columbia for her entire life. At six years old, her parents noticed that she was being bullied in school and they wanted to find her an outlet. They put her into figure skating, and as soon as she stepped onto the ice she knew that was where she wanted to be. “I felt free, and fast, and like no one could catch me.” Said Jarvis. Since then she has entered into several competitions and says that she has gained the confidence to do everything she’s doing today from figure skating.
