“We know what we are, but not what we may be.” -William Shakespeare New Mexico Military Institute, home of the Broncos and the little Colts, carries a tradition in which every student becomes a cadet in the Corps of Cadets. The ROTC cadets misses this formation because of their Physical Training is conducted during that time of the morning. Apparently it has come to conflict with what is called "mandatory BRC formation". It hasn’t happened recently but I got smoked by my cadre because from their reports I have missed two consecutive BRC formations. I did mention the fact that I was excused because of PT in the morning but they didn’t really care, neither did I because it was a terrible session. Twenty pushups is punishment to others but from my perspective it's something a tad easier. The fact stands that they should have been notified by the higher ups of my situation and kept me accountable. It isn't much of a problem as of now probably because they have gotten used to ROTC cadets not showing to the BRC formations. To reflect on this situation, there was a time when my troop had Additional Military Instruction (AMI) early in the morning but at the same time, I had PT again. I had to ditch AMI and because PT is essential for the health and physicality of the body. It's also on top of my to-do list in the morning because it's part of the ROTC training which is my priority. This does have a piece of my identity because I am more focused at ROTC than Corps/Troop Activities. I tend to be more serious when it comes to the ECP program and although I messed up at times, they always help me with what I struggle
