In Haroun and the Sea of Stories magic is a curse that drives the people of Gup to come together and fight for their stories and their magic. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire they live in a magical world, and in this magical world there are stories about great wizards and sorcerers that do great things. Or the stories that help Harry complete the games. A story is what gives him the things he needs to prepare for the triwizard tournament.
