Nietzsche and Anzaldua have both many similar views about the good life and how to live it. They both mainly agree that the good life is flexible. The good life can come in many forms for different people. However, there are some distinct differences with both authors as well. Anzaldua focuses more on the good life for a Chicano, while Nietzsche focuses on the human race as a whole. Nietzsche believes that a bad conscience stems from ones Christian beliefs. Anzaldua believes it mainly comes from the oppression faced in the “Borderlands.” Both of these authors have different ways to overcome a bad conscience. Nietzsche suggests remembering and moving on from what you did wrong using the example of the eternal return. Anzaldua uses a method called “Coatlicue,” which is a state that you must get into and then you write to transmute yourself and in time others.…show more content… Nietzsche believes that most people have one because of their Christianity beliefs because according to Christianity no one is ever good enough to God. So, they are unable to live a happy and fulfilling life because they feel like most everything they do isn’t good enough. Nietzsche believes that pain plays a big role in overcoming a bad conscience. There are several steps that coincide with this process. However his process has been proven to be effective. For example, if when we were younger we would misbehave in class, and then at home our parents would punish us by taking away certain privileges.
