ATTRIBUTION:Connie Slaughter (b. c. 1946), African American civil rights attorney and activist. As quoted in Ms. magazine, p. 47 (January 1973).

Slaughter was the first African American woman elected president of Tougaloo College student body and the first to graduate from the University of Mississippi.
