ATTRIBUTION:Jack Webb (1920–1987), U.S. actor, producer. Sergeant Joe Friday (Jack Webb), in Dragnet (radio and TV series), introduction, written, produced, directed by, and starring, Jack Webb (1949-1971).

Originally produced for radio, then successfully on TV for another 18 years, the crime serial Dragnet started every episode with the above monologue. Friday speech’s was also characterized by such expressions as, “Just the facts, ma’am,” “that’s my job,” and “I carry a badge.” Created by Jack Webb and Richard L. Breen.
